Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and Media Yard LLC, a United States limited liability company that operates CostPerJob at costperjob.com. New Jersey is our place of establishment. Postal address: Media Yard LLC, PO Box 73, Pennsauken, NJ 08110. They cover the site and the shop OS product. Creating an account or using the service is acceptance. The Privacy notice, DPA, and AI policy are part of this agreement. The legal hub lists every policy we publish.

What this is / is not

CostPerJob is a shop OS for a contractor’s jobs and money. v1 is the money loop: pricebook, bid, open job, scorecard, margin history. We do not sell crews, seats, or a dispatch board.

CostPerJob is not a field-service OS. We do not schedule, dispatch, route crews, send outbound SMS, hold customer funds, replace the books, keep inventory, or offer a generative estimator. CSV of what’s on screen is the complement to the books — not a replacement.

Job payments, Stripe, and zero custody

We do not handle or hold job money

CostPerJob is job-cost and margin software. It is not a bank, money-services business, MSP wallet, escrow agent, or payment intermediary that receives, holds, settles, or disburses funds between a contractor and that contractor’s customer.

Media Yard LLC never:

• holds customer deposits or job payments
• runs a contractor or customer wallet or float
• escrows funds for work
• guarantees that work was done, materials delivered, or an invoice is owed

Subscription billing (Pro / Scale) is separate

Paid CostPerJob plans (Pro, Scale, and any later plan) are billed by Stripe to you (the shop / account holder) for software access. That is Media Yard receiving subscription fees for the Service — not holding money between you and your end customers.

Job payment features (when available)

From time to time CostPerJob may offer optional tools that help you request payment from your customer (for example Stripe Connect payment links for a deposit or final amount).

As of this draft, customer job-payment / Stripe Connect pay-link features are paused and may be hidden in the product. When those features are unavailable, do not rely on CostPerJob to collect money from your customers.

When job-payment features are enabled again:

1. Your customer pays you through Stripe.
2. Stripe settles the charge to your connected Stripe account under Stripe’s terms and your Stripe Connect agreement.
3. CostPerJob may retain a platform fee only (rates on /pricing control; if a number here differs, /pricing wins).
4. Media Yard does not hold the customer’s payment as escrow or as a balance you withdraw from us.
5. Refunds, disputes, chargebacks, and “work not done” claims are between you and your customer (and Stripe’s processes). CostPerJob / Media Yard is not a guarantor of your work, your materials, your schedule, or your customer’s payment obligation.
6. You are solely responsible for complying with applicable law, licensing, tax, and consumer rules for your invoices and collections.

Fraud and misuse

You must not use CostPerJob or any payment tooling to bill for work you did not perform, to impersonate another business, or to otherwise defraud customers. We may suspend accounts and report abuse. Report abuse to support@costperjob.com with subject line Abuse.

Third-party processors

Stripe, Inc. (and any other named processor in /privacy) processes card and bank payments. Their terms and privacy policies apply to payment processing. We do not store full card numbers.

Plans

Free is $0, 10 open jobs, last 10 closed cards, no credit card needed. Pro is $29 per month, full ranked history, a clean estimate PDF, and up to 3 packages. Scale is $79 per month for templates, brand, and up to 5 options. Pricing on /pricing wins if a number here is stale. Paid plans renew until you cancel.

Who owns what

You own the pricebook, estimates, job logs, and scorecards you enter. Media Yard LLC owns CostPerJob: the software, the site, and our marks. We do not claim your business, your customers, or your books.

Acceptable use

You need an email (Gmail is fine) and you must be 18. CostPerJob is a B2B product. Magic link and a 6-digit code are how you sign in. You are responsible for people you invite and for the numbers you log.

Do not probe or scrape other workspaces. Do not overload the service. Do not resell CostPerJob as a field-service platform. Report abuse to support@costperjob.com with the subject line Abuse.

Refunds

Free: stop anytime — there is nothing to refund. Pro: cancel anytime; the paid period ends and you drop to Free. Jobs, history, and the pricebook stay. The last-10 closed-card window then applies. Scale: cancel anytime; the paid period ends and you drop to Free.

Cancel plan vs Close account

Cancel Pro takes you back to Free. Jobs, history, and the pricebook stay. The last-10 closed-card window then applies. Close account erases the workspace. The same email can start a fresh account afterward. Invoice and tax records stay as the law requires.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or that we are required by law to stop serving. Ownership, amounts already due, liability, and governing law survive cancellation or closure.

Confidentiality

Each of us will keep the other’s non-public information confidential and use it only to run CostPerJob. That includes your jobs and scorecards, and our non-public product details. It does not cover information that is public, already known, independently developed, or that the law requires us to disclose.

Data protection

Where UK GDPR, EU GDPR, or similar law applies to job records you store with us, you are the controller and Media Yard LLC is the processor — or, if you yourself process that data on behalf of another controller, you are the processor and we are the sub-processor. The DPA is incorporated by using the service. You do not need a wet signature. Email hello@costperjob.com from the account email if you need a countersigned copy.

Payment

Paid plans are billed by Stripe in US dollars. Pro is $29 per month. Scale is $79 per month. Cancel Pro or Scale and you drop to Free when the paid period ends. Free is $0. No credit card needed. Fees are exclusive of tax we are required to collect.

No SLA

There is no service-level agreement and no service credit. Support is email, best effort, on weekdays, US Eastern Time.

No lawyer on staff

Media Yard LLC has no lawyer on staff. These terms, Privacy, the DPA, and the AI policy are published so you can read them. They have not been reviewed by counsel. Nothing on costperjob.com is legal advice.

What we do not promise

The scorecard is a report from the numbers you log. Media Yard LLC is not SOC 2 or HIPAA certified. CostPerJob is not legal, tax, or estimating advice, and it is not a field-service platform. The service is provided as available, AS-IS, with no warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, as the law allows.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Media Yard LLC is not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect damages, and total liability for a claim is the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (zero on Free). Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, or any right that UK or EU law says we cannot limit. If a mandatory consumer or data-protection right conflicts with this paragraph, that right wins for that claim.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where UK GDPR, EU GDPR, or the EU AI Act applies of its own force. If a court has to hear a dispute that New Jersey can hear, it will be in New Jersey. We will email notice of material changes to the work email on the account. If you do not agree, stop using CostPerJob. Keep using after that email is acceptance.
